BARRIO.LA COMMITMENT

We’re an independently owned & operated company based in Los Angeles – 100% run by L.A.-living people & 100% committed to working with L.A.-living product makers.

SHIPPING

We like to think that the best stuff takes some time, so unless it’s a product emergency & in that case, you really should call or email us, we promise to get it to you as quickly as possible (via USPS priority mail).

In general we ship items between 1-2 days of when you place your order & only ship within the continental U.S. – so everything arrives between 5-7 business days later.

All domestic and international shipping info can be found here.

RETURN POLICY

We only carry the most carefully chosen & best stuff in Los Angeles, yet we know that “issues” happen sometimes. So while we do not accept any returns, we want to make sure buying goods on our site makes you happy. Email us if something happened when it shipped to you or if you just absolutely can’t deal with what you ordered. We’ll figure it out together.

THINGS TO CONSIDER

We love our locally made products because of their simple ingredients, no-animal testing & lack of chemicals, but everyone has their skin sensitivities & things that just don’t vibe with their body. If something doesn’t work for you, please let us know & then give it someone who may like it. We like to share as much info as possible, so everyone can have the best experience possible.

THINGS TO KNOW

Things made with natural ingredients can melt in extreme heat. Try popping anything that melts into the fridge & it should go back to it’s original state. Please let us know if this doesn’t work.

The product shelf-life is an important factor to make sure you experience barrio.la products at their highest quality. All of our products have at least a 6 month shelf life upon purchase & are best used quickly as natural products, made-to-order don’t include the harmful preservatives & toxins found in chain-store products – which are usually added to allow for their products to sit in warehouses for long periods of time.

ACCOUNTS & PRIVACY

To ensure a positive experience on our site, upon checkout, first-time customers will be prompted to register for an account on barrio.la. The account allows for a few things that are beneficial to you:

Saved billing & shipping information which allow for easy orders in the future

Reviews can be authentic & genuine – so when you see a review written by a “verified owner”, you’ll know it was written by a person who actually bought that product

 FAQ

We understand you have questions & to make sure you have the most enjoyable experience possible, we’ve included a few Frequently Asked Questions about barrio.la.

Who is barrio.la?

barrio.la is the creation of brother-sister duo Jen & Rick Kanter. Based in L.A. – barrio.la wants to help Angelenos “live locally” by finding good products made by local people. Our process in finding new partners includes urban & outdoor adventures around Los Angeles – so we share our scoop & stories on our blog – & on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest.

Where is barrio.la located?

barrio.la has 2 offices: Mar Vista (Westside) & Whittier (Eastside).

Our mailing address is:

11700 National Blvd L-102, Los Angeles, California 90064

Are your products all made in Los Angeles?

Everything we feature in our shop is made or designed in the Greater L.A. metro by locally-owned independent businesses & artisans. Greater L.A. metro includes Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernandino, & Orange Counties. You may find someone handcrafting exceptional artisanal goods in Orange County like Saba Khan, a family in Diamond Bar that designed & created an earth-changing bamboo toothbrush, or a mother/daughter duo in Montrose No Tox Life perfecting the craft of creating vegan & all natural bath & body products.

No matter what, everything you find in our store is handcrafted or designed by someone right here in Southern California.

Are your products organic?

Some of our bath & body, & food products carry organic ingredients but most importantly barrio.la seeks out products made locally using all-natural ingredients. All-natural is an over-used term, but simply stated; it means we find products with ingredients you can pronounce. Oil’s, butters, bases – these are all simple things you could see & touch – not complex chemical compounds made in laboratories.

What if I have allergies?

Sensitive skin is something that we definitely know about – which is why we test everything for issues with sensitive skin. Of course, we rely on you reading the ingredients to ensure there isn’t an ingredient you may be allergic to & we always appreciate any feedback if you had any issues with our goods.

Not seeing ingredients for a product?

Email Us the product name & we’ll get back to you with the specifics.

 Why buy local?

This is of course very important to us – & the entire reason we are here with you today is because of our strong commitment to create an experience of buying local from local people. Products made by hand are created with passion & inspiration, not for scale, longevity, and marketability – & you’ll notice that when using our products. barrio.la tries & tests every product we feature to ensure your experience is a positive one when using these products.

How can I get my products onto barrio.la?

We are actively & constantly testing out new products from local makers & we would love to hear from you if you have a suggestion of a local artist, crafter, or maker we should feature in our store.
