mar vista art walk
Not all events are actually as fun as their pictures make them out to be, but that’s not the case with the Mar Vista Art Walk.
There’s never a lack of interesting things to do in Los Angeles. Some of our favorite events (KCRW’s Chinatown Summer Nights Parties!) are big productions that bring together greater Los Angeles, yet still happen to feel easy to navigate, inclusive & family-friendly in most cases.
Our other favorite events are the much smaller, community driven ones like Frogtown’s Art Walk, Highland Park’s Art Walks & now, the Mar Vista Art Walk.
A few times a year, Mar Vista holds an art walk along Venice Blvd. that supports local makers, artists, musicians & businesses, too. In fact they just celebrated their first anniversary.

Starting from Grandview & Venice, you can walk west towards Lincoln stopping along the way to grab food at various food trucks, listen to live music, shop local vendors or pop into the various art galleries.

If you’ve ever been to main street Santa Monica or the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market, you’ve probably met Steve who makes the most incredible contraptions & inventions – like the stuffed animal grabber he brought to the art walk.
At the last art walk on December 1st, we popped into Grand View Market & finally heard for ourselves the live music everyone has been raving about since the market remodeled.
For a Thursday night, the market was packed with our favorite mix of people- all ages, old school L.A. & everyone – all together listening to the music & many people dancing. We love L.A.
we remind Angelenos of what “living locally” has to offer.
